History
Mazoni is an open project, led by Jaume Pla, with five published albums.
The self edited and unlisted Días Soleados was the first incursion of the band into the difficult music market. This recording, in Spanish and with vertical melodies, made the group members believe that it was possible to begin and finish an album with their own means. Later came 7 Songs for a Sleepless Night (2004), published with the discography Bankrobber, an album gathered around a feeling which received complimentary reviews from magazines like RockdeLux, but went unnoticed for most people, and just now starts to move slowly to the difficult category of cult album.
After a not very prolific break, important to make up the new Mazoni, Esgarrapada (2006) came out. This album is significant because thanks to its repercussion it brings a stable career with regular concerts. The radio station iCat fm chose “No tinc temps” as the summer hit and the band launched its new album playing in Primavera Sound, MMVV, PopArb, BAM…
Without any time to rest they finished Si els Dits fossin Xilòfons (2007) trying to take advantage of the positive energy created during the last months. With this album they played in the US and Canada -South by Southwest Festival (Austin, Texas), and The Canadian Music Week-, as well as in many concerts in Catalunya, Valencia and the Balearic Islands during 2007 and 2008.
Another remarkable fact was the request Mazoni received to compose the music for the award ceremony of Omnium Cultural de les lletres catalanes which this year has been held for the first time in Palau de la Música Catalana.
Finally, after a productive autumn, Mazoni will start 2009 with a new album which grasps the current atmosphere and dresses it with imaginative and personal music: Eufòria 5, Esperança 0 (2009).
